How to connect a USB Dongle

USB dongles plug directly into a device's USB port and provide connectivity via a mobile network. The USB dongle contains a modem that our SIM card uses to communicate to the mobile network. A USB dongle works with multiple different device types from laptops to routers to IoT devices.  An example of a USB dongle is the Huawei E3372.

Establishing connectivity with a USB dongle

The instructions for setting up a USB dongle are dependent on the operating system and device the dongle is plugged into.  Instructions provided by the dongle provider should be followed to get the dongle ready. The instructions below provide general guidance for USB dongles followed by an example of setting up a Huawei E3372 on a Windows laptop

The steps to configure a dongle and enable it for connectivity over the s-imsy network

  • Activate the S-IMSY SIM

    • See guide Activating the SIM card guide

  • Configure connectivity for the SIM in the S-IMSY portal

    • See Understanding Connectivity guide
